José Câmnate na Bissign

José Câmnate na Bissign (born May 28, 1953 in Mansôa , Guinea-Bissau ) is a Guinea-Bissau Roman Catholic clergyman and emeritus bishop of Bissau .

Life

José Câmnate na Bissign received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Bissau on December 31, 1982 .

On October 15, 1999, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Bissau. The apostolic nuncio in Guinea-Bissau, Archbishop Jean-Paul Aimé Gobel , donated him episcopal ordination on February 12, 2000 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Santiago de Cabo Verde , Paulino do Livramento Évora CSSp , and the Bishop of Saint-Louis du Sénégal , Pierre Sagna CSSp.

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on July 11, 2020.
