José Luis Corral (Bishop)

José Luis Corral Peláez SVD (born August 12, 1968 in Córdoba , Argentina ) is an Argentine religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Añatuya .

Life

José Luis Corral joined the religious order of Steyler Missionaries in 1987 and made his first profession on February 20, 1989 . He studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Centro de Estudios Filosóficos y Teológicos Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo and graduated from the Catholic University of Córdoba with a degree in religious studies . In 1996 Corral made his perpetual profession. He received on 1 March 1997, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Then José Luis Corral was pastor of the parish Nuestra Señora de los Dolores in Tumbaya and novice master before he became provincial councilor of the Steyler missionaries in Argentina in 2005. From 2008 to 2011 Corral worked in the parish of San Isidro in Maracaibo , Venezuela . In 2011 he became novice master in the Noviciato Latinoamericano in Asunción in Paraguay . Since 2013, José Luis Corral was Provincial Superior of the Divine Word Missionaries for southern Argentina.

On 19 July 2019 it appointed Pope Francis to Coadjutor Bishop of Añatuya. The Bishop of Añatuya, José Melitón Chávez , ordained him episcopal on August 31 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Córdoba , Carlos José Ñáñez , and the Archbishop Emeritus of Tucumán , Luis Héctor Cardinal Villalba . José Luis Corral became Bishop of Añatuya on October 16, 2019, succeeding José Melitón Chávez, who was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Concepción on the same day .
