Josef Kauper

Josef Kauper (born June 21, 1899 in Bayreuth ; † November 5, 1945 there ) was a German lawyer in Nuremberg. In 1945 he was appointed Lord Mayor of his hometown by the Americans.

Life

Kauper studied law at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen . He took part in the First World War as a volunteer and was appointed NCO in 1917 . In 1919 he was in the Corps Onoldia recipiert . In 1919 he fought in the Epp Freikorps against the Munich Soviet Republic . In March 1920, he stood against the Spartakists in the Erlangen student battalion in Nuremberg . In 1922 he was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD. In 1925 he settled in Nuremberg as a lawyer . In the era of National Socialism his clientele dwindled. His mother was Jewish. Although he was a frontline fighter, he was attacked because of his parentage and excluded from clubs. He was not pushed out of his profession. As the second chairman of Onoldia's Philistine Association, he was one of the four Ansbachers who "voluntarily" laid down their volume under the pressure of the Aryan paragraph ; He remained closely associated with the corps throughout his life. He escaped in 1944 of commanding a labor battalion, but had a few months forced labor do. The military government in the American Zone of Occupation named him Lord Mayor of his hometown on April 24, 1945 . A good six months later, he was killed in a traffic accident at the age of 46. He left behind his wife and three children. He died too early for the Ansbacher band to resume.

The son Wolfgang became active as Kauper 2 at Onoldia in 1948. He was charged for four semesters (xxx.xxx.xxx.x) and chairman of the Corpsphilistervereinfor more than two decades. As a lawyer, he sat on the statutes committee of the KSCV for several years.
