Josef Rezek (born June 5, 1990 in Budweis , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech - Australian ice hockey player and coach who has been under contract with Adelaide Adrenaline in the Australian Ice Hockey League since 2011 and with the Adelaide Falcons in the lower class ice since 2017 Hockey South Australia Premier League plays.

Career

Josef Rezek began his career in the youth department of HC České Budějovice from his native Budweis . In the 2008/09 season he came in relegation to his first appearances in the first men's team in the Extraliga . Since he was loaned out in the middle of the following season for IHC Písek in the third-class 2nd division and later switched completely, this remained his only two appearances in the Czech top division. With the team from South Bohemia, he achieved promotion to the second-class first division at the end of the season . He himself remained in the third division, however, since he moved to the previous league rivals HC Milevsko in 2010 . After only one year there, he moved to " Down Under ", where he has since played for Adelaide Adrenaline in the Australian Ice Hockey League . He also played from 2011 to 2015 for the Adelaide Tigers and since 2017 for the Adelaide Falcons in the lower-class ice hockey South Australia Premier League.

International

After his naturalization, Rezek played for the Australians for the first time in Division II at the 2017 World Cup , when he and the Serbian Nemanja Vučurević became the second top scorer after Romania Ede Mihály . Also in 2018 he played in Division II.

Coaching career

In Australia, Rezek has been working in addition to his playing career since 2013 as assistant coach of the Australian U20 team , which plays in Division II. Since 2017 he has been president of the women's team Adelaide Rush from the Australian Women Ice Hockey League, which he has also been head coach since 2018.
