Nemanja Vučurević ( Serbian - Cyrillic Немања Вучуревић ; born April 20, 1991 in Novi Sad , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian - Slovenian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the KHK Red Star Belgrade since 2017 in the International Hockey League and the Serbian Ice Hockey League .
Career
Nemanja Vučurević, who has both Serbian and Slovenian citizenship, began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at HK Vojvodina Novi Sad , for whom he made his debut in the Serbian ice hockey league at the age of 15 . In 2008 he moved to local rivals HK Novi Sad , who, however, stopped playing in 2009. He then moved to the Slovenian top club HDD Olimpija Ljubljana , for which he competed in both the Slovenian U20 league and the Slohokej league . In 2010 he returned to Serbia and played for HK Partizan Belgrade , with whom he won both the Serbian championship and the Slohokej league in 2011 . After these successes he moved to Sweden, where he was on the ice at Varberg HK in Division 2 , the fourth highest division in the Scandinavian country. But before the end of the season he left the team from the Kattegat Coast and joined Partizan Belgrade again. With the capital club he was able to win both the Serbian championship and the Slohokej league, as in the previous year. He then left Serbia again and went across the pond, where he played for the Bracebridge Phantoms in the Canadian Junior League GMHL. In 2013 Vučurević returned to Europe and initially played for HDK Maribor in the Austrian-Slovenian-Italian Inter-National League . In September 2014 he took part in the IIHF Continental Cup 2014/15 for the HK Beostar . He then moved to Lippe Hockey Hamm in the German Oberliga West . There the ETC Crimmitschau noticed him, for which he completed ten assignments in the DEL2 in 2015/16 . He then returned to Serbia, where he was initially used for one year for HK Belgrade in parallel in the MOL league and the Serbian ice hockey league and became Serbian champion in 2017. He then moved to the KHK Roter Stern Belgrade , with whom he won the Serbian title in the International Hockey League and the Serbian ice hockey league and in 2018 again.
International
For Serbia, Vučurević took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships in 2007 (Division II), 2008 (Division III) and 2009 (again Division II) and the U-20 World Championships in 2009 and 2010 (each in Division II).
In the men's field, Vučurević played for the Serbian team at the 2010 World Cup in Division I and at the 2011 World Cup , when he provided the most assists in the tournament, in 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 , when he was together with the Australian Josef Rezek was the second best scorer after Romanian Ede Mihály , and in 2018 in Division II. He was also on the ice for his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and Pyeongchang in 2018 .
