Joseph-Emmanuel de La Trémoille (born July 7, 1659 in Thourars , France, † January 10, 1720 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Catholic Church .

Life

After studying at the Sorbonne and earning a doctorate in civil and canon law, he worked as an auditor at the Rota Romana from 1693 . Since 1695 Commendatarabbot of Ligny, he also received the Sorèze Abbey in 1702 . Also vicar general of the diocese of Laon , he was ambassador of the King of France at the court of Naples from 1702 to 1706 . He then became Minister of the King of France at the Apostolic See in 1706.

On May 17, 1706 by Pope Clement XI. Created cardinal, he was appointed cardinal priest of the titular church Santissima Trinità al Monte Pincio on June 25, 1706 . In France he also received Bellecombe Abbey in 1706 , Grand Selve Abbey in 1707 and St-Étienne de Caen Abbey in 1710 as prebends. The College of Cardinals elected him for the period from January 14, 1714 to January 31, 1715 as his camerlengo .

On June 8, 1716 appointed Bishop of Bayeux , he moved to the Archdiocese of Cambrai on May 11, 1718 . The episcopal ordination donated Clement XI. personally on May 30, 1719 in the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Rome; Co- consecrators were Fabrizio Paolucci , Cardinal Bishop of Albano , and Cardinal Francesco Pignatelli OTheat , Archbishop of Naples .
