Joseph Blomjous

Joseph Blomjous MAfr (born February 10, 1908 in Oisterwijk , Netherlands ; † November 3, 1992 ) was a Dutch religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Mwanza .

Life

Joseph Blomjous joined the religious order of the White Fathers in and received on 29 June 1934, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On April 11, 1946, Pope Pius XII appointed him . as titular bishop of Bubastis and first vicar apostolic of Musoma-Maswa . The bishop of 's-Hertogenbosch , Wilhelmus Pieter Adrian Maria Mutsaerts , donated him episcopal ordination on October 6th of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the coadjutor bishop of Breda , Jozef Willem Maria Baeten , and the vicar apostolic of Dutch Guiana-Suriname , Stephanus Jozef Maria Magdalena Kuijpers CSsR . He was also Apostolic Administrator of Maswa from 1950 to 1953 .

Pius XII. appointed him on June 24, 1950 as the first Vicar Apostolic of Mwanza. Joseph Blomjous was due to the elevation of the Apostolic Vicariate Mwanza to on March 25, 1953 the diocese first bishop of Mwanza. On October 15, 1965, Pope Paul VI took the resignation put forward by Blomjous and appointed him titular bishop of Cabarsussi . He renounced the titular bishopric of Cabarsussi on May 13, 1977.

Blomjous participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
