Joseph Kiprono Kiptum (born September 25, 1987 ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in road running.

Career

In 2009 he finished fifth in the Daegu Marathon . The following year he was third at Göteborgsvarvet and won the Zwolle half marathon. In 2011 he won the Kerzerslauf , was seventh in the Berlin half marathon and second in the Route du Vin in April . In June he also won the Hamburg half marathon in 1:03:15 h.

In 2012, an eighth place in the Berlin half marathon with 1:00:26 h in a personal best was followed by a victory in the Hanover marathon in May .

In August 2013, Kiprono finished third in the “ Carinthia runs ” half marathon in Klagenfurt.

In September 2018 at the half marathon in Medellín (Colombia), Joseph Kiprono, while in the lead, was hit by a car that had disregarded a roadblock about 1.5 km from the finish. He received medical attention and was hospitalized with bruises and abrasions. He had already won this half marathon in 2015.
