Joshua "Josh" Hill (born January 9, 1991 in Surrey , England ) is a former British racing driver . He started in the European Formula 3 championship in 2013 .

He is the son of Formula 1 world champion Damon Hill and grandson of two-time world champion Graham Hill .

Career

At the age of 13, Hill began his motorsport career in karting. In 2008 he drove in GT racing. He finished third in the British Ginetta GT Junior Championship and won the Ginetta Junior Winter Championship . In 2009 Hill switched to formula racing and started for Jamun Racing in the British Formula Ford . With two podium finishes, he finished his debut season in eleventh place, while his teammate James Cole won the championship title. In 2010 Hill won five races in the British Formula Ford and improved to fifth overall. With Scott Pye , his teammate won the overall standings again. Hill also took part in two Benelux Formula Ford races and stood on the podium once.

At the end of 2010, Hill took part in the winter series of the British Formula Renault for Manor Competition . With a podium placement, he finished the season in ninth place. At the beginning of 2011 Hill drove in the Toyota Racing Series , New Zealand's highest monoposto series, for ETEC Motorsport . With fourth place as the best result, he was 13th in the drivers' championship. He then started for Manor Competition in the British Formula Renault. With two fourth places as the best results, he was overall seventh and best Manor pilot. Hill also took part in four North European Formula Renault events for KTR . A fourth place was his best result. After the season he contested the winter series of the British Formula Renault for Fortec Motorsport . Hill achieved pole positions in all six races and won two. In the overall standings, he was fifth. 2012 Hill started the season again for ETEC Motorsport in the Toyota Racing Series. Hill started the championship with a win at the season opener. In the further course of the season, further podium placements followed with two second and third places. In the overall standings, he achieved fourth place as the best driver in his racing team. Hill was then to take part in the British Formula Renault for Fortec Motorsport. Since the series was not held, however, Hill started in the northern European Formula Renault for Fortec Motorsport. Hill won five races and finished third overall. Hill also took part in four races in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup for Fortec Motorsport .

In 2013 Hill received a cockpit from Fortec for the European Formula 3 championship . At Hockenheim he achieved a podium finish with a second place. Hill got out of the series halfway through the season in tenth place overall. He also ended his racing career with it.

Personal

Josh Hill comes from a racing family. His father Damon Hill and his grandfather Graham Hill both won the Formula 1 World Championship. Josh Hill, like his father and grandfather, uses a helmet design inspired by the colors of the London rowing club where his grandparents met.
