Juan Borges

Juan Borges Matos (born March 28, 1966 in Guantánamo ) is a Cuban chess player .

He won the Cuban individual championship three times: 1987 in Las Tunas , 1993 and 1995 (shared first with Julio Becerra Rivero ) in Matanzas . He played for Cuba at two Chess Olympiads : 1988 and 1998 . He also took part in the World Team Championship (1997) in Lucerne and the Pan-American Championship (1995).

In 1988 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM). The title of Grand Master (GM) was awarded to him in 2004. His highest rating was 2535 in July 1988.
