Juan Carlos Vera Plasencia MSC (born June 25, 1961 in Trujillo , Peru ) is a Roman Catholic military bishop of Peru .

Life

Vera Plasencia entered the novitiate of the Sacred Heart Missionaries after graduating from school in 1983 and made profession on the Feast of the Assumption in 1984 . He then studied philosophy and theology at the Instituto Superior de Estudios Teológicos Juan XXIII in Lima . On August 22, 1988 he was ordained a priest of the Sacred Heart Missionaries. He worked for two years in the Parish of Puquio in the Caravelí prelature, then he became instructor and administrator in the seminary of his order.

After a year of advanced training in the international novitiate of the MSC in the Dominican Republic , he was rector of the seminary in Lima from 1993 to 2005 and since 2002 regional superior of the religious community.

On June 18, 2005, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . as Bishop and Prelate of the Territorial Prelature Caravelí . The bishop of Chosica , Norbert Strotmann MSC, donated him the episcopal ordination on August 28, 2005 in the Cathedral of Trujillo. His predecessor, Bishop Bernhard Kühnel MSC was Mitkonsekrator and handed him the crosier. The second co-consecrator was the Archbishop of Trujillo , Héctor Miguel Cabrejos Vidarte OFM .

Pope Francis appointed him military bishop of Peru on July 16, 2014 . The inauguration took place on September 13 of the same year.
