Juan Conway McNabb

Juan Conway McNabb OSA (in his home country: John Conway McNabb , born December 11, 1925 in Beloit , Wisconsin , United States ; † February 26, 2016 in Chicago , Illinois , United States) was an American religious and bishop of Chulucanas in Peru .

Life

John Conway McNabb was the son of Clarence and Noreen McNabb. He attended St. Thomas High School in Rockford , where he Congregation of the Augustinian met. In 1944 he joined the Augustinians as a novice . In 1948 he made the Perpetual Vows . He studied philosophy, education, library science, and theology at Villanova University , DePaul University in Chicago, and Augustinian College in Washington, DC. He earned a Masters of Science degree in Library Science and a Masters of Education . On May 24, 1952, John Conway McNabb was ordained a priest .

After his ordination, John Conway McNabb taught at a religious school, took on several leadership roles in the province of Chicago of his order and was director of the Mendel Catholic High School in Chicago.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on March 4, 1964 prelate of Chulucanas and on April 8, 1967 titular bishop of Saia Maior . From then on he used the Spanish form of his first name: Juan .

The Archbishop of Chicago John Patrick Cody consecrated him on June 17 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Petrus Canisius Jean van Lierde OESA, Vicar General of the Vatican, and Erasmo Hinojosa Hurtado , Archbishop of Piura . McNabb attended the third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council . On May 26, 1978 he renounced his titular bishopric as part of the new allocation guidelines of the Roman Curia .

On December 12, 1988, he was appointed Bishop of Chulucanas by Pope John Paul II . On October 28, 2000, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
