Judy Becker

Judy Becker (* 1955 or 1956 in New York ) is an American set designer for films. At the 2014 Academy Awards , she was nominated in the Best Production Design category for the Oscar for the feature film American Hustle .

Life

She was born as the daughter of Nobel Laureate in Economics, Gary Stanley Becker and Doria Slote Becker. She has a sister, Catherine Becker, and two stepbrothers from her father's second marriage. She graduated from Barnard College , earned a Masters degree in European History from Columbia University in 1978 and a law degree from New York University . In 1996 she married Michael Taylor, who works as an editor in the film industry . In the same year she started working as a partner in the law firm Arnold & Porter .

She began her film set and set designer career in the New York independent film community. In the following years she worked on films such as Garden State , Brokeback Mountain and The Last Gentleman . In 2014 she and Heather Loeffler were nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Production Design for the feature film American Hustle . She had previously worked with the film's director David O. Russell on Silver Linings and The Fighter .

She lives in Manhattan with her husband .
