The youth church Crossover (in its own spelling "youth church CROSSOVER", formerly also "youth church CROSS OVER") is a youth church of the Limburg diocese in Limburg an der Lahn . The profile church is located in the rooms of the St. Hildegard Church .

idea

The youth church Crossover was inaugurated on July 17, 2005 on the initiative of the then bishop of the Limburg diocese, Franz Kamphaus . The aim was to reach young people who have little or no contact with the church due to their socialization or who lose contact with the church after their first communion or confirmation . These young people see the church liturgy as alien, can not identify with the traditional church services and are not used to being part of fixed groups and structures. In 2015 the ten-year anniversary of the youth church Crossover was celebrated. As part of this, the then cathedral capitular Wolfgang Rösch blessed the Jugendcafé Jugendstil.

Other youth churches of the Limburg diocese are the youth church Jona in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen and the youth church Kana in the state capital Wiesbaden .

concept

The youth church Crossover wants to create a connection between today's world of young people and the church with their faith. The name Crossover stands for the cross as a bridge that connects heaven and earth and that God strikes to people. The youth church is an institution of the Children, Youth and Family Department of the Diocese of Limburg.

working area

Special youth services take place in the youth church once a month and on special dates, such as Christmas mass on Christmas Eve . These are designed in a way that appeals to the young people and are prepared by them. Music and light are important elements here. Christian spirituality is a central element of all youth church events, such as the end of the day during leisure time , religious experience rooms at seminars with school classes or through independent events such as trips to Taizé , accompanying events during Holy Week or events during Advent . Spiritual accompaniment and one-on-one discussions go into the individual. Other projects and events include Advent campaigns, seminars and music and cultural events. In the school-based youth work , young people are accompanied in their everyday school life and supported in developing important social skills . These can be creative with their attitudes and - cheap deal, working to improve their communication and cooperation, overcome conflicts and new experiences with religion and spirituality make. Special youth concerts with musicians like Hanne Kah complete the offer.

The youth church Crossover supports Catholic youth work in parishes , pastoral rooms and associations by providing advice and training for employees. The work with company applicants under the name FirmXPerience is an important focus of the youth church. The firmands can spend a day in the youth church at “oasis days” and pursue questions of their faith and life. In addition, Crossover has been running the Art Nouveau café in the container buildings set up in the courtyard of the youth church in cooperation with the jobaktiv advice center of the Limburg Episcopal Ordinariate . A focus of the work in the school meeting at the youth church Crossover is also the work on the integration of refugees , this includes various projects such as German courses .

The youth church team represents the interests of young people in church and communal bodies and vis-à-vis the public.

The youth church is an agency for young people in the voluntary social year or in the federal voluntary service .
