Wolfgang Rösch (born August 25, 1959 in Wiesbaden ) is a German Catholic priest and vicar general of the Limburg diocese .

Life

Rösch grew up in Erbach im Rheingau as one of four brothers. He first completed a degree in mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt before studying theology at the Philosophical-Theological University of Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt am Main and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . He was the Alumne German College and in 1990 in Rome by Bishop Karl Lehmann for ordained priests .

Initially, he was active as a chaplain and pastor in pastoral care in Wetzlar , Hadamar and Offheim and headed the diocesan office for professions of the Church of the Diocese of Limburg . In 1997 he succeeded Thomas Löhr Regens at the Limburg seminary . In 2003, the then Limburg Bishop Franz Kamphaus appointed him pastor in Königstein and Kronberg im Taunus . From 2010 to 2013. Wolfgang Roesch Catholic was city dean of Wiesbaden and at the same time pastor of all eight Catholic parishes in the Wiesbaden city that in January 2012 the United Parish of St. Boniface merged. This created the first “new type of parish” on the territory of the Limburg diocese. At the same time he was chairman of the Caritas Association Wiesbaden.

On October 2, 2013, the Limburg diocese announced that Rösch would be the successor to Vicar General Franz Josef Kaspar on January 1, 2014 . On January 12, 2014, Rösch was adopted as city dean in Wiesbaden.

With the resignation of Limburg Bishop Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst, accepted by Pope Francis on March 26, 2014, Rösch's office as Vicar General (c. 481 § 1 CIC ) expired , but the Apostolic Administrator appointed by Rome named Manfred Grothe Rösch his permanent representative. The new Limburg bishop Georg Bätzing appointed Wolfgang Rösch as his vicar general on September 18, 2016.
