Thomas Löhr
Thomas Löhr (born February 29, 1952 in Frankfurt am Main ) is auxiliary bishop in the Limburg diocese .
Life
Thomas Löhr studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . He lived at that time in the collegium germanicum et hungaricum and received on 10 October 1976 in Rome, the sacrament of Holy Orders . From 1981 to 1982 Löhr was chaplain in the parish of St. Johannes, Apostle in Frankfurt-Unterliederbach . He then continued his studies in Rome and continued in 1982 at the Gregorian University with the thesis The teaching Robert Bellarmine from the general council for the doctorate in theology doctorate . In 1982 he became a chaplain in the parish of St. Johannes Baptist in Elz . In 1984 he became Subregens and in 2005 Regens of the Limburg Seminary .
From 1997 to 2007 he was pastor and dean of Rüdesheim am Rhein and Eibingen . In addition, Löhr was district dean of the Rheingau district during this time . In 2006, Thomas Löhr was appointed by Bishop Franz Kamphaus to head the Pastoral Services Department in the Limburg Episcopal Ordinariate and shortly thereafter appointed Honorary Canon of the Limburg Cathedral Chapter ; on April 23, 2008 he finally became a full member of the Limburg cathedral chapter as cathedral chapter.
On June 15, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . the titular bishop of Diana and it ordered auxiliary bishop in the diocese Limburg. The episcopal ordination received his Bishop Franz-Peter-van Elst Tebartz on 30 August 2009 at the Limburg Cathedral ; Co-consecrators were former bishop Franz Kamphaus and the retired Limburg auxiliary bishop Gerhard Pieschl . Thomas Löhr has been responsible as Episcopal Vicar for the religious orders and spiritual communities and as Episcopal Vicar for ecumenism since 2017. In 2018 he was also elected dean of the Limburg cathedral chapter to succeed Günther Geis .
In the German Bishops' Conference he is a member of the Ecumenical Commission and the Caritas Commission .
Coat of arms and motto
The shield, divided four times, shows in field 1, divided into two parts, a red cross on a silver-white background and a golden sword, killing a blue-gold dragon ( St. George ), the bishopric coat of arms of Limburg on a red background . Field 2 shows a sun on a golden background, Christ, the sun of righteousness. The rays of the sun are also the attribute of St. Thomas Aquinas , he is the namesake of the bishop. Field 3 shows river-like wavy lines on a silver-white background (Main, Tiber, Rhine and Lahn). Born on the Main, studied on the Tiber (Rome), pastor on the Rhine and auxiliary bishop on the Lahn, but also stream of life and baptism. Field 4 shows on a red background the painful Mother of God ( Pietà ) (miraculous image of Bornhofen , to whom the bishop is very attached), under whose protection he places himself.
Behind the coat of arms is the bishop's cross , above the green bishop's hat ( Galero ) with six green tassels (fiocchi) underneath the motto.
His motto Veritatem facientes in caritate (“ To do the truth in love”) comes from the letter to the Ephesians ( Eph 4.15 EU ).
