Julija Dmitrijewna Tichonowa ( Russian Юлия Дмитриевна Тихонова ; born April 8, 1986 ) is a former Russian , now Belarusian cross-country skier .

Career

Tikhonova has been participating in competitions organized by the Fédération Internationale de Ski since 2003 . Since 2007 she has mainly competed in the Eastern Europe Cup . So far, she has been in the top ten 15 times, including three third places and finished seventh in the overall ranking in the 2011/12 season. She ran her first World Cup race in January 2010 in Otepää , which she finished with 25th place and thus also got her first World Cup points. At the Russian cross-country skiing championships in 2011 in Tyumen , she won bronze in the 15 km pursuit race. In February 2011 she reached her first and so far only podium in the World Cup with third place in the relay in Rybinsk . She finished the 2011/12 Tour de Ski in 32nd place overall. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme , she came 32nd in the 30 km mass start race. At the Russian Cross-Country Ski Championships 2013 in Syktyvkar , she won bronze in the sprint and gold in the 30 km mass start race. She finished the Tour de Ski 2013/14 with 40th place overall. In January 2014 she finished second at the Dolomitenlauf and a week later she won the Marcialonga . At La Sgambeda in December 2014, she took third place. At the 2015 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun , she took 40th place in the 30 km mass start race. In the 2015/16 season she took 28th place at the Nordic Opening in Ruka and 37th place at the Tour de Ski 2016 . In April 2016 she won the Ugra Ski Marathon . In the following season he won the Eastern Europe Cup in Minsk in the sprint and also took second place over 10 km freestyle and over 10 km classic. Her best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti were 30th place in the 30 km mass start race and 11th place together with Polina Seronossowa in the team sprint. Her best placings at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang were 35th place in the sprint and 14th place in the relay.
