Julio César Vidal Ortiz (born June 19, 1944 in Tierralta ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and emeritus bishop of Cúcuta .

Life

Julio César Vidal Ortiz was ordained a priest on April 7, 1973 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him prelate of Alto Sinú on December 16, 1993 . The episcopal ordination donated him the Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia , Archbishop Paolo Romeo , on February 18 of next year; Co- consecrators were Carlos José Ruiseco Vieira , Archbishop of Cartagena , and Ramón Darío Molina Jaramillo OFM , Bishop of Montería .

With the elevation to the diocese on December 29, 1998 he was appointed Bishop of Montelíbano . On October 31, 2001, the Pope appointed him Bishop of Montería. He was appointed Bishop of Cúcuta on July 16, 2011 and was introduced to the office on September 10 of the same year.

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on July 24, 2015.
