Karl Friedrich Adolf Julius von Suchten (born March 10, 1809 in Rastenburg , † March 1, 1897 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian major general .

Julius was a son of the Prussian Colonel Franz Karl von Suchten (1787-1859) and his wife Marie, née Richter.

Military career

Suchten joined the 1st Dragoon Regiment of the Prussian Army as a dragoon on September 14, 1825 . There he was appointed sergeant on October 1, 1827 and on November 15, 1827 portepeefähnrich. On May 15, 1829, he was transferred to the 3rd Infantry Regiment as a surplus second lieutenant and on February 19, 1831 he was assigned. Suchten was a battalion adjutant from 1838 to 1849 and has meanwhile been promoted to prime lieutenant . With promotion to captain , he was appointed company commander on January 10, 1850 . This was followed as a major on July 21, 1857 as a commander of the 1st Battalion in the 5th Landwehr Regiment. As a battalion leader, Suchten was assigned to the 5th Combined Infantry Regiment on May 8, 1860, from which the 8th East Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 45 emerged on July 1, 1860 . As the commander of the 1st battalion in Graudenz , he became a lieutenant colonel on October 18, 1861 , and on April 25, 1864 he was given the character of a colonel. During the mobilization on the occasion of the German War , Suchten was commander of the 4th Pomeranian Landwehr Regiment in 1866. In this capacity, Suchte was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with a ribbon, on the occasion of the festival in January 1867 . His regimental commander wrote in his assessment in 1847: “He is a good officer in every respect and will certainly become a good company commander. Suchten married Julie Sackersdorff († 1867) in Lyck in 1832 . After the death of his first wife, Suchten married Hulda von Quassowski, widowed Hinz, on November 5, 1869 in Königsberg. With her he had the children Ellinor (* 1870), Magda (* 1871) and Gustav (* 1873).
