Jung Bu-kyung (born May 26, 1978 ) is a former South Korean judoka . He was second in the 2000 Olympic Games in the extra light weight category, up to 60 kilograms.
Athletic career
The 1.73 m tall young boy Bu-kyung won the 1998 title at the student world championships. In 1999 he won the Asian Championships in Wenzhou by beating Uzbek Alisher Muxtarov in the final . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he reached the semi-finals with three Ippon victories, where he defeated Alisher Muxtarov in a fight over the full duration. In the final, he met the Japanese Tadahiro Nomura , who won after 14 seconds.
At the end of 2001 Jung Bu-kyung rose to half-light weight, the weight class up to 66 kilograms. In 2003 he won the title at the Asian Championships in this weight class by beating the Mongols Dashdavaa Gantumur in the final . His last major success in judo was when the South Korean team won the 2005 World Team Championships.
From 2007 to 2009 Jung Bu-kyung was active as a mixed martial arts fighter. He lost each of his four professional fights.
