Boys stay boys (Original title: Les beaux gosses ) is a French comedy film directed by Riad Sattouf from 2009.

action

14-year-old Hervé and his best friend Camel are among the unpopular outsiders at their school. Both of them have never had a girlfriend and are in the last third of their class in terms of performance. The only women they know are the lingerie models from the catalogs, to whom they regularly masturbate together. Hervé also regularly observes a woman in the neighboring house undressing from his room, if he is not disturbed by his mother, who has an extremely relaxed relationship to sexuality and so regularly involves her son in unpleasant conversations.

One day Hervé seriously injured his nose while doing school sports and was amazed when the pretty Aurore spoke to him on the bus. Although he assumes that she doesn't want to know anything about him, she helps him with his essay on rapper 50 Cent and shortly afterwards invites him to a party. Hervé manages to shake Camel off, but cannot prevent his mother from accompanying him to the party. In the end, she gets together with the father of a classmate. After the party, Aurore is initially unsure whether she wants to be with Hervé, as she actually wants to wait, but finally decides for him.

Hervé shares his new experiences with Camel, often exaggerating. After Aurore threw Hervé out of the apartment because he had ejaculated while kissing, he claims in front of Camel that he slept with Aurore. Because Aurore's friends beat up Hervé at school the next day because he should keep his hands off Aurore, she in turn saves him. She kisses him in front of everyone, which leads to speculation, so in the end it is said that Aurore would kiss anyone for ten euros. Aurore learns this during an RPG she takes part in with Hervé and his friends. She leaves the game outraged. Hervé believes that she broke up with him and tests the new knowledge he has gained about women through Aurore: after a short time he finds a new girlfriend and only now notices that Aurore never wanted to leave him. Torn to and fro, he wants to choose her again, but she can only offer him her friendship. In the end, Hervé stays with his new girlfriend, but is still good friends with Aurore. Camel has finally found his first girlfriend, just as Hervé's mother finally seems to have a steady partner in the father of her schoolmate.
