Just Like a Woman is a film drama by Rachid Bouchareb from 2012 and the first part of a trilogy about the conflict-laden relationship between the cultures of the Arab and Western world.
The film premiered on December 14, 2012 on the French television channel Arte . Companies from France, the USA and the UK were involved in the production of the road movie, including Arte France. The main roles are Sienna Miller and the Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani . You play two women from different cultures who are fleeing their failed marriages.

Since she has just lost her job and is being cheated on by her unemployed husband, the attractive Marilyn, full of anger and spontaneously, leaves her trailer park with the convertible. The married, Arab-born Mona is also desperate about her family situation and flees headlong. The pain of accidentally killing her 82-year-old mother-in-law with wrong medication weighs on her soul. Although the two young women only briefly know each other as neighbors, they want to continue on their way together. Both love belly dancing and improve their household budget by appearing in third-class bars. Marilyn's goal is an oriental dance casting in Santa Fe . She hopes that this will give her a perspective for her future.
Since Mona is wanted by the police, they have to be careful and behave inconspicuously. They practice for their performances on the edge of an Indian reservation , where they are allowed to camp. The tent neighbors are disgruntled and express themselves racist towards Mona. Marilyn takes her friend under protection, becomes abusive and has to take a beating for it. She is beaten up by two campsite residents. Affected by the injuries, she cannot attend the casting in Santa Fe. All the efforts of the past few days seem to have been in vain. But Mona steps in under Marilyn's name and is so successful that she receives a certificate made out to Marilyn O'Connor. Matured and purified from the experience, Mona decides to return to Chicago to face the investigative authorities. Marilyn doesn't give a damn about the certificate and joins her, because at least they are now united by an intimate friendship.

The film budget was around 2 million euros. The film was shot in the metropolis of Chicago and in the US state of New Mexico . The second part of Rachid Bouchareb's trilogy , a buddy movie called Belleville Cop, hit theaters in 2016. Filming had already started in 2012. The title of the third part is not yet known.
