Justus Feuerborn

Justus Feuerborn (also: Feurborn ; born November 13, 1587 in Herford ; † February 6, 1656 in Gießen ) was a German Lutheran theologian.
Life
Justus was born the son of bailiff Ludolph Feuerborn (* around 1555 in Herford; † December 4, 1595 ibid.) And his wife Catherine Fuhrlohn (* around 1560; † December 5, 1595 in Herford). He attended high schools in Herford, Lemgo and Stadthagen. Feuerborn studied at the University of Giessen from 1612 . His teachers were Balthasar Mentzer the Elder. Ä. , Johannes Winckelmann , Christoph Helvicus and Caspar Finck (1578–1631). In 1614 he became a master of philosophy and then gave lectures. On October 28, 1616 he received his doctorate in theology , and in the same year he was appointed associate professor of theology. He thus became pastor and Ephorus of the scholarship holders.
In 1618 he was appointed full professor of theology, in 1618 he became fourth full, 1619 third full, 1626 second and 1627 first full professor of theology. In 1625 he moved the university to Marburg (occupied by the Darmstadters ) , where he stayed until the university was moved back to Gießen in 1650. He took part in the theological debates of his time, as well as in the church visits in 1628. In Marburg he was rector in 1629, and in 1630 and 1644 vice-rector of the university. After returning to Gießen from Marburg, Feuerborn was first rector of the University of Gießen's Alma Mater in 1650.

On October 28, 1616 he married Hedwig Mentzer (born August 9, 1599 in Marburg / Lahn; † November 11, 1654 in Gießen), a daughter of Balthasar Mentzer the Elder, in Gießen. Ä. and his wife Margaretha Orth. There are children from the marriage. We know of these:
- Elisabeth Catherine Feuerborn (born August 5, 1617 in Gießen; † April 4, 1684) married. August 19, 1633 with Prof. Dr. theol. and superintendent Peter Haberkorn (1604–1676)
