The Köhlersbach is an almost five kilometer long stream in the Waldenburg Mountains in northeastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows from the southwest to the south, most recently under the name Schupbach , near the hamlet of Schuppach in the municipality of Pfedelbach in the Hohenlohe district from the right into the upper Ohrn .
geography
course
The Köhlersbach arises in the southern Hohenlohekreis in the area of Waldenburg in the forest area between the village Obersteinbach and the hamlet Sailach of the small town about 0.8 km west of the water tower of Sailach in the Gewann Weißenstein . The here at a maximum of 472 m above sea level. The longest source stream that rises from the NHN is unstable and initially runs to the southwest, taking up two equally unstable forest upper reaches from the left and then from the right at the Kasperlessee .
Shortly after he crossed the L 1046 Waldburg-Michelfeld- Gnadental and now flows with stable water levels in the field of community Michelfeld in Schwäbisch Hall its deeply cut Koehler's sword to now South Course. The creeks of Klosterbach and Eichelklingenbächle from the Koppenklinge run from the east on this section from Nebenklingen , both of which drain the western part of the flat ridge between Forsthaus and Neunkirchen . Opposite on the right plateau Büchelberg lies in a large clearing island on a small hilltop.
A good kilometer before its mouth, it changes to the corridor and at the same time to the area of the municipality of Pfedelbach again in the Hohenlohe district; here he now bears the name Schupbach . It takes its last, again somewhat smaller tributary Eichenheldenbächle from a blade from the north-west and now flows south-west again. In the hamlet of Schuppach (!) It flows at about 320 m above sea level. NHN opposite the house Mühlengrund 1 from the right and northeast into the upper Ohrn coming from the southeast , the valley of which bends in a westerly direction here.
The 4.7 km long course of the Köhlersbach / Schupbach empties about 152 meters below its highest point, its mean bottom slope is therefore about 32 ‰.
Catchment area
The brook drains 7.6 km² of the Waldenburg Mountains , a sub- natural area of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains . In this keuper bergland the first cuts through flat, to later steep waters eintiefende the means keuper layers of siliceous sand stone ( Hassberge formation ) at the origin down to Gipskeuper ( grave field formation ) on the mouth. On the left and over a large area, especially on the right, on the accompanying ridge of the lower course, the sequence of layers continues above the silica sandstone and over the Upper Bunten Marl ( Mainhardt Formation ) to the Stubensandstein ( Löwenstein Formation ) that forms like this leveling . In several places on the edge a height of over 480 m above sea level is reached. Reached NHN , but nowhere 485 m above sea level. NHN .
The watershed in the west separates from the downstream catchment area of the receiving water Ohrn , which competes here via its right tributaries down to the Steinbach . Behind the eastern one, the beaver running southwards takes in almost all the streams draining beyond the sheath, the only ones of a certain importance are the Limbach and the Schöppklingenbach . Only in the very south is the catchment area of the upward Ohrn an with the short Neunkirchener Katzenbach .
The catchment area is mostly wooded and open almost only at the edge on the flat ridges, where it has a share of the clearing islands around the hamlet of Sailach in the northeast (to Waldenburg ); around the forester's house in the east, the hamlet of Neunkirchen in the southeast and Büchelberg in the southwest (all to Michelfeld ) and at the mouth of the valley around Schuppach (to Pfedelbach ). Michelfeld has the largest share of the area in the central area, a smaller Waldenburg in the north, and the smallest Pfedelbach in the south.

Mouth of the now called Schupbach Köhlersbach from the right and finally northeast to about 320 m above sea level. NHN opposite the house Mühlengrund 1 of the Pfedelbacher hamlet Schuppach from the right and northeast into the upper Ohrn . The stream is 4.7 km long and has a catchment area of 7.6 km².
Nature and protected areas
From the beginning of the blade deepening, the Köhlersbach and later Schupbach is a naturally flowing bed with a partly rocky bed, partly covered with rubble, on which steep and flat banks alternate; in some places the bank breaks off. The stream falls over small steps, elsewhere it fills quiet pools. Spring horizons are partially cut on the slopes.
The entire area is part of the Swabian-Franconian Forest , the short open hallway on the lower course is part of the landscape conservation area Steinbach valley and adjacent areas (Upper Ohrntal) . Natural monuments are set up around the upper of the two monastery ponds (under the name of Forsthaussee ) and along the uppermost Eichelklingenbächle (under the name of Landheg u. Feuchtgebiet im Dietrichschlag ), where a section of the Haller Landheeg ran at today's district boundary. At the upper drop of the right mouth spur above Schuppach is a forested block rubble dump, which is under the name Einberg under nature protection. A little to the north-west of it, a water protection area extends into the catchment area on the ridge south of Büchelberg .
