Köllitsch is a district of the municipality of Arzberg in the northern Saxony district in Saxony .

location

The district of Köllitsch is located southeast of the city of Torgau and southwest of the village of Arzberg, east of the Elbe . The lowlands of the Elbe with its meadows and the slightly higher arable land create the rural environment. The village is connected to the federal road 183 and the district road 8914 with local connection routes.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1314. Other spellings were Coldicz, Keltz, Cöltzsch . The German place name can be interpreted as shrubbery, small forest . Until 1937 the official spelling of the place name was Cöllitzsch .

The jurisdiction over the place, which consisted of only three farms in 1827, was shared by the two neighboring manors of Oelzschau and Arzberg until 1849 . Through the connection with Korgitzsch, the Rittmeister Wilhelm Petzsch's estate became the largest estate in the town. It had 388 hectares of land in 1929.

On the former estate with apprenticeship training there is now a teaching and experimental estate of the Saxon State Office for Environment, Agriculture and Geology. About 100 people live in the district.
