König Drosselbart is a German fairy tale film from 1962. It is based on the Grimm fairy tale König Drosselbart .

action

A haughty king's daughter mocks everyone who takes pleasure in her. Above all, she rejects a wealthy king, called "Thrushbeard", because he does not like his appearance. Her father then gets angry and gives her to a beggar to wife. The princess learns more about the riches of King Thrushbeard and quickly regrets not having become his wife. However, she has to work hard for her husband and ultimately hire herself out in the royal palace. There she meets the king again, who had disguised himself as a beggar and now reveals himself. It comes to a happy ending .

King Drosselbart was shot at Ruhwald Castle and in Glienicke Castle Park , among others . The shooting took place in April 1961. As a two-part television film, König Drosselbart was first broadcast on ARD on December 26, 1962 .

The film was released on DVD on March 5, 2012.
