Königskapelle is a village in the Tyrolean Oberland . It belongs to the municipality of Karrösten in the Imst district of the state of Tyrol ( Austria ).
location
The village is located in the Oberinntal between Karrösten and Brennbichl , on the way from the Inn towards Imst . Past the Königskapelle district, the busiest access route to the Imst-Pitztal train station of the Austrian Federal Railways leads over the Imster Inn Bridge. Before the construction of the Pitztal Bridge , it was the only direct connection from the Pitztal via the Königskapelle district (municipality of Karrösten) to the district capital Imst.
history
The village has been formed around the " Königskapelle" (also called Sachsenkapelle ) since the middle of the 19th century , which was built in 1854 to commemorate King Friedrich August II of Saxony (1797-1854) who was killed here in a traffic accident .
