KF Drita ( Albanian short for Klubi Futbollistik Drita ) is a football club from the city of Gjilan in Kosovo . The club has been playing in Kosovo's highest league, the IPKO Superliga , since its promotion in 2011 . Local rival is KF Gjilani .

history

The football club with the surname Drita ( Albanian for "light") was founded in 1947 by Albanian citizens of the city of Gjilan. In its early days, the Albanian-dominated football club rivaled the communist FK Crvena zvezda Gnjilane, also based in Gjilan . In 1952 KF Drita was dissolved by the Serbian regime and the players joined the now multi-ethnic FK Crvena zvezda Gnjilane.

At the end of the 1970s, KF Drita was revived and from then on also took part in Kosovar league games. In 2020 they won the championship title of the IPKO Superliga 2019/20 for the first time .
