Kałuszyn is a city in Poland in the Masovian Voivodeship . It is located in the Powiat Miński and is the seat of an urban and rural municipality .
Geographical location
Kałuszyn is located in the eastern part of the Masovian Voivodeship, about 50 kilometers east of the center of Warsaw . Neighboring cities are about 15 kilometers west of Mińsk Mazowiecki , 25 kilometers north of Węgrów , 30 kilometers east of Siedlce and 30 kilometers south of Stoczek Łukowski .
history
The first written mention of the place as Kaluszino comes from the year 1416. In 1660 the place received city rights. In 1718 the town charter was confirmed. During the third partition of Poland in 1795, Kałuszyn became part of Prussia . This remained so until the founding of the Duchy of Warsaw in 1809. After its dissolution, the city became part of Congress Poland in 1815 . At the end of the November Uprising in 1831, the city was the scene of a battle between the Polish insurgents and the Russian army. After the end of the First World War , Kałuszyn became part of the Second Polish Republic . During the attack on Poland , the German Wehrmacht marched into the city in September 1939. After the Second World War , Kałuszyn became part of Poland again.

Buildings
The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a neo-Gothic church which was built between 1889 and 1897. The builder of the building was Józef Pius Dziekoński .
Also worth seeing is the building of the volunteer fire brigade, built in 1918.
There are also some monuments in the city. For example the Monument to the Fighters for Independence ( Bojownikom o Niepodległość ) which was inaugurated on the 20th anniversary of Poland's regained independence on November 11, 1938. Furthermore, a memorial commemorates the battles of the 1st Infantry Division Józef Piłsudski against the Wehrmacht in September 1939.
Economy and Infrastructure

State road 2 (droga krajowa 2) , which at the same time forms European route 30 , runs through Kałuszyn in an east-west direction . In an easterly direction, after about 130 kilometers, it leads to the Terespol border crossing to Belarus . In a westerly direction it leads to the center of Warsaw after about 50 kilometers.
The city has no connection to the rail network. There are regular bus connections to Warsaw , Mińsk Mazowiecki , Biała Podlaska , Siedlce and Białystok, among others .
The nearest international airport is Warsaw Frédéric Chopin Airport , which is about 60 kilometers west of Kałuszyn.
education
In Kałuszyn there is a Bolesław-Prus Primary School (Szkoła Podstawowa im. Bolesława Prusa) and the Middle School of the 6th Infantry Regiment Józef Piłsudski (Gimnazjum in the 6th Pułku Piechoty Legionów Józefa Piłsudskiego).
