Kai-Steffen Meier (born August 19, 1983 in Neu-Anspach ) is a German eventing rider .

Life

Kai-Steffen Meier was born in Hesse as the son of horse-loving parents. In childhood his love belonged to kickboxing and athletics . When his parents gave him the choice of either riding or playing the piano at the age of eleven, he decided to go horse riding. In 2004 he went to the Bundeswehr sports school in Warendorf as a soldier on horseback , where he competed in three-star tests for the first time. He then completed an apprenticeship as a horse manager at DOKR .

From 2007 to 2009 he trained in Andreas Dibowski's stable in Egestorf , while studying business administration via distance learning . In 2007 he was appointed to the German B-team. In the same year, he fell in a serious accident off-road at the beginning of the season. He overturned his horse and broke a cervical vertebra. A few weeks later he was already riding tournaments again. In summer 2008 he took part in a CCI 4 * for the first time in Luhmühlen .

In 2009 he got the opportunity to start at the Badminton Horse Trials and came third at the German Championships in Schenefeld. Thereupon he was nominated as an individual rider for the European championship of eventing riders in Fontainebleau . There he crashed with Karascada M and was consequently eliminated.
