Kamil Iskanderowitsch Sami Gullin ( Russian Камиль Искандарович Самигуллин / Kamil 'Iskanderovič Sami Gullin; born 22. March 1985 , Krasnogorski , Zvenigovo , ASSR of Mari , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union , now Russia ) since April 2013, the chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Republic Tatarstan and thus Grand Mufti of Tatarstan and the central figure of Islam there. He is a representative of the Maturidi School and a member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars . As the successor to Ildus Faisow, he is the youngest mufti in the history of Tatarstan. The seat of his muftiate , the so-called Muftiat of Kazan or Kazan Muftiat (Kazanski muftijat / Казанский муфтият), is in the city of Kazan on Lobachevsky Street No. 6.

His Islamic education he received at the madrassah Muchammadija in Kazan, the North Caucasian Islamic University in Makhachkala ( Dagestan ), the Madrasa of İsmail-Aga community in Istanbul and the Russian Islamic University in Kazan. In addition to Tatar and Russian , he speaks Turkish and Arabic .

According to the website eng.islam-today.ru , he obtained teaching permits with isnāds from two Islamic schools of law ( madhhab ), the Hanafi and the Shafiʿite . In 2014 he ran unsuccessfully for election to the Social Chamber of Russia . In his election as Grand Mufti, he prevailed against two other candidates.

According to the Islam expert Malashenko , Mufti Samigullin often uses "mild" expressions in interreligious dialogue when describing Hizb ut-Tahrir .

Regarding the current importance of Islam in Tatarstan, Samigullin points to the rapid expansion of Islamic visibility in the country: "Tatarstan had 20 mosques 25 years ago, today there are 1,500."
