history

The settlement was created in connection with the construction of the railway line to Yoshkar-Ola and the forestry development of the area as well as the development of the wood processing industry from 1925. The railway line went into operation on this section in 1929, and on February 26, 1939 Krasnogorski received the status of a Urban-type settlement.

The largest wood processing company on the eastern edge of the village manufactured prefabricated houses from wood-based materials in 1953 . In 1968 it was re-profiled to manufacture truck bodies and is still the largest company in the town as a manufacturer of such bodies, including for military and special vehicles based on KAMAZ and Urals .
