The Palten-Liesing-Tal (also Liesing-Palten-Tal ) is the umbrella term for the valley range of the Palten and Liesing valleys, two valleys in Styria . It used to be called the Kammertal .
location
The valley is located in the Styrian districts of Liezen and Leoben and connects the two main valleys of Upper Styria , the Ennstal and the Mur-Mürz valley , over which with a pass height of 849 m above sea level. A. relatively inconspicuous valley pass Schoberpass . It runs from west-northwest to east-southeast and divides the Eisenerzer Alps from the Niedere Tauern ( Rottenmanner and Seckauer Tauern ).
Hydrography
The two eponymous rivers arise in the municipality of Wald am Schoberpass , the Palten flows to the northwest and flows into the Enns , and the Liesing flows to the southeast and flows into the Mur . The Schoberpass thus forms part of the main watershed of the Alps , as an extension of the main Alpine ridge into the northern branch of the eastern edge of the Alps , which then ends at the Vienna Basin.
Communities in the valley
The main places in the valley are Rottenmann , Kalwang and Trieben . Around 22,000 people live in the Palten-Liesing Valley, 13,000 of them in the Palten Valley and 9000 in the Liesingtal. The most populous municipality in the Palten-Liesing Valley is the town of Rottenmann with around 5300 inhabitants. The individual communities are (from west to east):
