The Kampfgeschwader 60 was an association of the Luftwaffe in World War II .
Lineup
The 1st group with the 1st to 3rd squadron was formed in July 1942 at the Tours airfield ( Lage ) in the German-occupied France from the association command school for fighter pilot training. This was founded in Foggia in Italy in January 1942 and moved to France in July. Further groups and a KG 60 squadron staff did not exist. The three squadrons were equipped with the Junkers Ju 88A-4 and the Ju 88A-14. The squadron identification was P1.
history
The entire I. Group remained stationed in Tours until October and was assigned to the IX. Air Corps subordinated to Air Fleet 3 . In October 1942 the 1st and 2nd seasons moved to Banak ( Lage ) in Norway.
As early as November 8, 1942, the 1st and 2nd squadron moved to Elmas ( Lage ) on Sardinia in Italy, as the Allied landing in North Africa began. The 1st and 2nd squadrons stayed there until February 1943 and were subordinate to the II. Fliegerkorps of Luftflotte 2 . Then they were dissolved. The combat squadron 30 took over the personnel and material.
The 3rd Squadron and the Group Staff, which remained in Tours throughout their existence, were also disbanded in February 1943. The 3rd squadron switched to Kampfgeschwader 6, while the group staff again operated as Association Leader School / KG101. During the 7 months of its existence, the entire group had 5 total losses of aircraft due to enemy action and 11 total losses without enemy action.
