The Kampfgeschwader 66 was an association of the Luftwaffe in World War II .

Lineup

The first group was formed in April 1943 in Chartres in occupied France. The III. The group was only set up on October 10, 1944 from IV./Kampfgeschwader 101 and transferred to Kampfgeschwader 200 as II. Group in November 1944. A second group and a KG 66 squadron staff did not exist. The squadron was equipped with the Heinkel He 111 , the Junkers Ju 88 , the Junkers Ju 188 and the Dornier Do 217 . The squadron ID was Z6.

history

The I./KG 66 was set up as a special association for route and destination markings ( scout tasks ). As a result, she was in France from the summer of 1943 on the IX. Air Corps of the Air Force 3 assumed. In all air raids against England, she took over the target finding tasks. This method was used at the Steinbock company in particular , but it did not prove to be successful. The 3rd season was between February and June 1944 in Cormeilles .

At the beginning of the Allied invasion of northern France , she was used in the same role on the invasion front.

In the last German offensive in the west, the Ardennes offensive , she again took on target finding tasks.

The I./KG 66 flew last missions on the Eastern Front against bridges over the Oder before it was disbanded in Neumünster on May 5, 1945.

The III. The group was equipped with mistletoe teams . It was renamed II./Kampfgeschwader 200 in November 1944.
