Above all, deep attacks on airfields, anti-aircraft and artillery positions, tank deployments and rail traffic were flown. On the Eastern Front , the squadron lost a total of 57 Bf 110s between June 22 and September 22, 1941 with the simultaneous destruction of 519 Soviet aircraft, 83 tanks and around 1,700 vehicles of all types.

I. group
The 1st group of the squadron emerged from the test group 210 set up on July 1, 1940 , which had flown numerous attacks on southern England. The heavy losses of the test group meant that it had to be withdrawn from operation for a few weeks in October 1940 to refresh it. Thereafter, the attacks continued until it was renamed I./SKG 210 on April 24, 1941. After the start of Operation Barbarossa , the Eastern campaign, the group flew on the Eastern Front as part of Army Group Center in association with Guderian's tank units to Moscow and in the winter defensive battles of 1941/1942.
