history

Kanovsko was first mentioned in writing in 1261, when Ottokar II. Přemysl gave the village, which was subject to the Stará Ves estate, along with other goods from the Hullein area to the Olomouc bishop Bruno von Schauenburg for his loyal service. After his death this part formed a fief of the Olomouc bishopric . In 1431, after his siege of Přerov , Duke Albrecht V had the village of Tršany between Věžky and Kanovsko burned down. In the following year, Smil von Moravany auf Milotice and his brothers acquired the Kremsier estate with all its accessories, including Kanovsko. After Smil's death, his son Zbyněk inherited the property. From 1498 Kanovsko belonged to the possessions of the lords of Ludanitz on Chropyně. In 1500 the rule of Kremsier including Kanovsko came back to the diocese. The village was parish after Vlkoš . In 1568, communities of the Moravian Brethren were formed in Kanovsko as well as in the surrounding villages. After Wenzel von Haugwitz had reinstated a Catholic clergyman on Chropyně in Vlkoš, this led to an uproar among subjects in the parish villages of Kyselovice, Věžky and Kanovsko. In 1601 a Lutheran was appointed pastor of Vlkoš, who was followed by a Catholic from 1615 after his departure. At the beginning of the Thirty Years War, in 1618 rebellious Wallachians attacked the village and in 1623 the troops of Gábor Bethlen . In August 1643 the Swedes occupied the area and set up their main camp on the Zahnonny Mountain . The village was looted. During the Turkish wars, the residents fled with their cattle for 11 weeks on the Hostýn , during which time imperial troops were quartered in the village. The oldest local seal dates from 1684 and bears the inscription OBECNY PECZET DIEDINI KANOVSKA . In 1748 Václav Macháček was appointed an emperor who was granted the right to dispense stately drinks. Václav's son Josef Macháček established a pub in Kanovsko. From 1790 a bailiff was appointed from among the submissive peasants. In 1794 the village consisted of 34 houses and had 246 inhabitants. After the Battle of Austerlitz , Napoleonic troops invaded in 1805 and pressed 300 Rhenish guilders from the residents of Vlkoš and Kanovsko. After their withdrawal, the Russian military followed, taking numerous horses and wagons with them. In 1835 there were 222 people in the 37 houses in Kanovsko. Until the middle of the 19th century, the place was always subject to the episcopal estates Kroměříž .

After the abolition of patrimonial Kanovsko formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Kremsier . In 1859 a large fire destroyed the entire village. The community has been part of the Prerau district since 1880 . Kanovsko consisted of 43 houses in 1910 and had 267 inhabitants. In 1921 the village reached its highest population with 290 inhabitants. 1951 Kanovsko was incorporated into Vlkoš. In 1980 the municipality of Vlkoš was merged with Bochoř and Věžky. With effect from November 24, 1990, Vlkoš and the district Kanovsko again form a separate municipality. On July 8, 1997, Kanovsko was flooded by a century flood of Moštěnka and Mlýnský náhon. The floods reached a height of up to two meters. After the flooding had largely subsided on July 12, both the Bečva and Moštěnka swelled again on July 18 , with the latter rising half a meter above the still softened dams the next day because of the backwater. After the water level dropped, the flood warning was lifted on July 22, 1997. In the 1991 census, 41 houses and 119 inhabitants were counted. In 2001, 137 people lived in the 47 houses in the village.
