Carlo Brunner (born April 22, 1955 in Erlenbach ZH ) is a composer and conductor from Switzerland . He is entitled to live in Erlenbach and Küsnacht ZH . His musical focus is the Landler .

From the musical career

In addition to the main instruments clarinet , soprano saxophone and E-flat alto saxophone , he also plays the accordion , piano and bass violin . Growing up in Küsnacht ZH, he played in a music group called Leugeli, performed with them in the gala Für Stadt und Land by Wysel Gyr , where he built his own compositions into the repertoire. His father Ernst Brunner integrated him into his Ländlerkapelle Seebuebe and helped him found the Carlo Brunner Chapel. Both formations maintain the concert style of Central Switzerland (see: Ländlermusik ). Carlo was 15 years old at the time. At the age of 17 he composed his famous forest bird Scottish . His great role model was and is Kaspar Muther from the Ländlerkapelle Heirassa.

At the age of 20 he attended concerts by the Martin Beeler Ländlerkapelle from Einsiedeln. There he met the accordionist Martin Nauer personally, who is still at his side today. It was the cornerstone of an unparalleled musical career. In his early years he also made playback recordings with the aforementioned musical instruments and composed, among other things, a playback Scottish .

Superlander band and popular hits

Maja Brunner , Carlo's sister, is a singer of popular hits. With the song Das chunnt eus spanisch vor , co-composed by Carlo , she won the Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1987 . Brunner took part in the same competition with his Scottish sledge fun , which he interpreted with the soprano saxophone . From time to time he also uses his singing voice himself, for example in the Muotatal wedding blues, a version of the Zillertal wedding blues. For the most part, Carlo Brunner is active as a composer of popular hits (sometimes under the pseudonym Karl Fontana ), which he accompanies with his super-country band. These melodies were partly co-composed by Arno Jehli and Raivo Tammik and the text was written by Charles Lewinsky . Between 1986 and 2010 he took part in the Grand Prix of Folk Music with a total of 23 different compositions . This makes him the only composer - along with Hanneliese Kreißl-Wurth and Bernd Sichter , each with 17 entries - who was represented as a composer for the entire duration of the competition, which took place annually and was discontinued in 2010. No other composer was represented at this competition with more different compositions.
