However, he made his debut in the 1962/63 season in the Oberliga Süd and came there to five missions. The universally deployable defensive player made his debut on February 3, 1963, of all things, in the away game in the derby against SpVgg. Fürth in the Oberliga Süd. In the 5-3 success he and Horst Leupold formed the defenders of the team of coach Herbert Widmayer . This was followed in sequence against Ulm 1846 (1: 2), Schwaben Augsburg (3: 2), SSV Reutlingen (2: 0) and the fifth and final round on March 10, 1963 in a 1: 3 home defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt. There he played as a defender from day one - on August 24, 1963 in a 1-1 draw away at Hertha BSC as a left defender - until 1968 a total of 115 Bundesliga games (5 goals) for the club . However, he only became a real regular player in the 1967/68 season , when he won the German championship with 1. FC Nürnberg and scored four goals in 32 league games under coach Max Merkel . The reliable team player had already in the difficult round 1966/67 , the "club" needed three coaches Jenö Csaknady , Jenö Vincze and Max Merkel to reach 10th place in the table, with 25 league appearances (1 goal) were among the performers. In the defense, which was reinforced under Merkel, mostly defense chief Ferdinand Wenauer , "Nandl" was supported by Fritz Popp , Horst Leupold and Helmut Hilpert on the full-back position, while Ludwig Müller and Ferschl took on the special tasks in front of the cleaning team Wenauer.

When Nuremberg won the Bundesliga championship in 1968, Ferschl was used in 32 games and scored four goals. In the Bundesliga chronicle it is noted in the lap balance: "Libero Wenauer played an outstanding season, supported by the hard-core Ludwig Müller and Ferschl as the central clearer." In the home games, the new champions achieved 28: 6 points with 46:17 goals and, after the first half of the season, topped the table with 27: 7 points and seven points ahead.

FC Nürnberg, it was only after he left the following season that it was discovered how much he was really worth. The master couldn't cope with his departure and was relegated with an unstable defense.

With 58 league appearances, Ferschl also belonged to the Hertha regular formation in the second and third round. From 1968 to 1972 he played 120 Bundesliga games (1 goal) for Berlin, missed only 16 games and was almost always in the starting line-up.
