Renaming of the street to Katzbach

After the city of Linz increasingly tried to come to terms with the past in 1988, it was decided to name the street named after Karl Emmerich Baumgärtel after Emil Baumgärtels instead . Research (Michaela Gustenau, Walter Schuster) had shown that the lyricist during the Nazi main branch manager in Gaupresseamt Oberdonau had been and from 1943 Press Officer for Gau and Reich in Upper Danube and this was not a minor activity. In his verses in April 1954, he had characterized Franz Langoth as a particularly noble person. The renaming did not affect the residents, only the name explanations on the street signs were exchanged.
