Carl Martin Eckmair
Carl Martin Eckmair (born October 28, 1907 in Eferding ; † September 25, 1984 there ) was an Austrian writer , journalist and educator .
education and profession
After graduating from the Stiftsgymnasium Wilhering (1928), he studied at the Federal Teachers' Training Institute in Linz and at the University of Vienna . From 1934 he taught in elementary schools in Eferding, Linz . From 1936 to 1945 he was a senior teacher and headmaster in Fürling near Gutau . From 1945 to 1947 he taught at the secondary school in Gallneukirchen . From 1948 to 1950 he worked for the Upper Austrian teacher health care. From 1951 he taught as a special school teacher in Linz. In 1960 he was appointed as the special school director in Linz Karlhof.
Literary works
His literary work includes poems , consecration games , school radio programs , radio plays , short stories and short stories .
- In the Viennese publisher Adolf Luser , Vienna, in 1944. His poetry collection beloved Earth published.
- Before that, the Berlin magazine Die Dame had awarded him its poetry prize in 1942 .

Eckmair worked full-time in Vienna from 1928 to 1931 as a journalist and editor for the Reichspost and the Kleiner Volksblatt . In Upper Austria again, publications can be found in the Linzer Volksblatt (1933) and in the Heimatgauen (1935).
During the Nazi era he worked part -time for the Nazi weekly newspaper Bauernzeitung für Oberösterreich and occasionally wrote reports in the cultural department of the Vienna edition of the Völkischer Beobachter . During this time he was able to publish poems, short stories and short stories in various newspapers and magazines.
From 1950 to around 1963 he worked part-time at the Neue Volksblatt and in various Upper Austrian weekly newspapers.
Editors, associations
- In 1944, together with Herbert Sailer and Georg Schneider, he published the magazine " Stimm der Heimat" (Hamburg, Ellermann Verlag).
- In 1946, together with Karl Emmerich Baumgärtel and Maximilian Narbeshuber, he founded the Upper Austrian Writers' Association
- At the beginning of the 1950s he was President of the Upper Austrian Artists Association , where he contributed as an author to its publications Silberrose and Die Sammlung .
- From 1953 he acted as editor of the Upper Austrian school papers
- From 1956 he was chairman of the Upper Austrian Writers' Association in the Upper Austrian People's Education Center .
- In 1962 he was awarded the professional title of professor .
- Membership in the Innviertel Artists Guild
