Karl Friedrich Pruss von Zglinicki (born February 25, 1818 in Trier , † October 1, 1886 in Weimar ) was the Prussian major general and commandant of the Glogau fortress .

Career

He attended the Knight Academy in Liegnitz . After graduating, he joined the 8th Infantry Regiment on August 28, 1834 as a fusilier . There he was appointed portepeef ensign on March 8, 1835, and second lieutenant on February 13, 1837 . From August 1, 1842 to February 1, 1846 he was a teacher at the Division School of the 5th Division. Then he came on April 1, 1847 in the 8th Landwehr Regiment, where he was adjutant and accounting officer in the 2nd Battalion in Soldin until July 31, 1859 . During this time he was promoted to Premier Lieutenant on May 8, 1851 . After the war he was promoted to colonel on June 18, 1869 and at the same time transferred to the 67th Infantry Regiment as commander. During the Franco-Prussian War he fought in the Battle of Gravelotte and acquired the Iron Cross 2nd class during the siege of Metz . He also took part in the siege of Belfort and in the battles at Arcey, Villiers, Le Haut, Taillies and the storming of Perouse. For the storm on Hautes Perches (near Belfort) he was also awarded the Iron Cross 1st class.

After the war, on January 20, 1873, he was transferred to the Glogau Fortress as commander and was assigned to the 67th Infantry Regiment à la suite . On September 2, 1873 he was promoted to major general and on September 18, 1875 he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves and swords on a ring.
