Dmitri Wassiljewitsch Wassiltschikow ( Russian : Дмитрий Васильевич Васильчиков; * 1778 in the Pskov Governorate ; † December 5, 1859 ibid) was a real privy councilor , general of the cavalry , lord mayor , chamberlain and state councilor in the Russian Empire .

Life

DW Vasilchikov was the heir to the Wolischjowo manor in Pskov Oblast and owned an estate in Vybiti . In 1785 he was accepted as a sergeant in the famous Preobrazhensky bodyguard regiment and in 1794, with the rank of sergeant , was transferred to the mounted bodyguard . He was promoted to cornet on November 15, 1796 and appointed chamberlain on June 7, 1799 , after which he was released from active military service and served at the imperial court . On October 7, 1801 he was reactivated and promoted to colonel , from 1804 he was given another exemption and was employed as chamberlain at the Supreme Court . On 13 January 1808, he returned to active duty and served as a colonel in Akhtyrsky- hussar - regiment . In 1809 he was deployed in Galicia during the Fifth Coalition War. On March 28, 1811, he was appointed commander of the Akhtyr Hussar Regiment and fought on several fronts during the Sixth Coalition War , the Patriotic War of 1812 . He was with his regiment in the Battle of Borodino , in the Battle of Mir and in the battle of Vyazma , for his bravery and service, he was high Russian and foreign orders decorated . On December 26, 1812 he was promoted to major general and commanded his troops in the Battle of Leipzig . From 1814 he was brigade commander in the 2nd Hussar Division, in 1816 a division command was entrusted to him . With the privilege of an annuity and wearing his uniform, he took his leave of the Imperial Russian Army on December 16, 1822 .

After his retirement he continued to work in the court, was appointed chief steward in 1830, in 1832 he received the title of hunter master and in 1838 master of the hunter. On July 1, 1846, he was appointed to the State Council. On September 5, 1852 he was dismissed from the court with all honors, he retained the title of chief hunter master for life. He was a member of the commission for the construction of St. Isaac's Cathedral in Saint Petersburg . On May 30, 1858, he was appointed honorary commander of the Akhtyrsky Hussar regiment and general of the cavalry. He died on December 5, 1859 and was buried on his estate in the village of Wybiti.

Origin and family

DW Wassiltschikow came from the boyar family Wassiltschikow , whose existence dates back to the 14th century. His father was the Russian Brigadier General Vasily Alexejewitsch Wassiltschikow (1754-1830), his brothers were the future Prince Illarion Wassiljewitsch Wassiltschikow and Major General Nikolai Wassiljewitsch Wassiltschikow (1781-1849). Dimitri married Countess Alexandra (Adelaide) Petrovna Apraksina (1785-1851) in 1804 , she was the bearer of the Russian Order of St. Catherine . They had four daughters: Elisabeth Dmitrievna (1805–1890); Sofia Dmitriewna (1809–1887), Katharina Dmitriewna (1811–1874) and Tatjana Dmitriewna (1823–1880).
