Karl Friedrich von Brüsewitz

Karl Friedrich von Brüsewitz (born September 6, 1738 in Cambz, district of Cammin , † March 24, 1811 in Berlin ) was a Prussian cavalry officer , most recently head of the regiment and lieutenant general , he was the hereditary lord of Cambz.

Karl Friedrich von Brüsewitz, came from the Pomeranian noble family Brüsewitz . His parents were the heir to Cambz, Bandelow, Kummin and Staarz Baltzer Heinrich von Brüsewitz (1704–1745) and Katharina Wilhelmine von Borcke-Brallenthin (1713–1781).

Life

In 1753 Brüsewitz began his career as a Junker in the Prussian army in the Dragoon Regiment Herzog v. Württemberg . In 1756 he took part in the Seven Years' War with the rank of ensign , especially in the battles of Prague , Hochkirch and Breslau, the battles of Reichenbach , Moys , Hoyerswerda , Maxen and the sieges of Prague and Olomouc . In 1757 he was promoted to second lieutenant and at the end of the war was promoted to the rank of prime lieutenant. In 1769 he was promoted to staff captain and participated in the War of the Bavarian Succession , before Brüsewitz was promoted to major and squadron chief in 1780 . In 1789 he became a lieutenant colonel and the following year he became the commander of Dragoon Regiment No. 10 . Also in 1790 he was promoted to colonel.

In 1794 he moved because of the Kościuszko uprising to Poland , where he distinguished himself especially in front of Warsaw and was honored with the order Pour le Mérite .

In 1797 Brüsewitz received the Dragoon Regiment No. 12 as the owner and kept it until his Dimission . In 1798 he advanced to major general with a patent from May 25th and rose to lieutenant general and leader of the observation corps on the Ems in 1805, before he reduced his pension with 1,000 thalers on September 24, 1806 due to a long-term eye problem. He was buried on March 28, 1811 in the garrison cemetery in Berlin.

family

Brüsewitz married Countess Dorothea Albertine Sophie von Wartensleben (September 3, 1743 - September 21, 1813) in 1799, who had been divorced from Count Adolph Carl von Carnitz (November 26, 1731 - December 7, 1808). The marriage was childless.
