Karl Hagemann

Karl Hagemann (born April 14, 1953 in Neuenkirchen , Steinfurt district ) is a German journalist and book author . He worked as a newspaper editor , radio journalist, television presenter and press officer .

Live and act

Karl Hagemann was born as the son of a civil engineer and head of structural engineering and has several siblings. After primary school in Neuenkirchen, Hagemann attended the Dionysianum grammar school in Rheine , from which he graduated in 1973 with the old-language Abitur. He studied history , German and journalism at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and received a scholarship from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's institute for gifted students . He completed his studies with the state examination. Later he studied Catholic theology at the cathedral school in Würzburg by distance learning parallel to his professional life .

Even during his studies, Hagemann worked as a permanent freelancer for the Münstersche Zeitung and the Münsterländische Volkszeitung . After a two-year traineeship at Westfälische Nachrichten , he became editor for the departments “Münster-Stadt” and “From all over the world”. In 1983 he switched to the WDR regional studio in Münster as radio and television editor . In addition to his work as a writer, he was also the presenter of the program “WDR regional - Radio Münsterland” and the “Münsterland-Magazin” (now local time ). For several years he worked in program management as head of duty . His larger television works include television features about pilgrimage , the first münscherischen bishop, Bishop Ludgerus von Münster , Cardinal von Galen and the sacred art in the diocese of Münster .

At the beginning of 1994 Hagemann switched to church service and became press spokesman for the Münster diocese and diocesan commissioner for private broadcasting. He has been a privateer since 2013 .

Engagement and memberships (selection)

Hagemann was for many years a member of the Diocesan Council and representative of the Diocese of Münster in the Central Committee of German Catholics . He is also a member of the Society of Catholic Publishers (GKP), the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation and the Kolping Society . In the eighties and nineties he was a juror at the District Court of Münster and spokesperson for the Alumni of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation at the university location Münster.

In 1995 he was accepted into the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem in Bamberg Cathedral , was honorary press spokesman for the German Lieutenancy for eight years and headed the media commission of the order. In 2001 he was promoted to Komtur and in 2008 to Komtur with a star. Hagemann initiated the CD "Münster's most beautiful carnival songs".
