Karl Heinrich Dzondi (also: Schundenius; born September 25, 1770 in Oberwinkel , † June 1, 1835 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German medic.

Life

Dzondi had initially turned to theological studies and was accepted on April 30, 1799 as a Master of Philosophy at the University of Wittenberg . There he acquired his Magister Legens on June 5, 1799, and on June 12, 1799 became an adjunct in the Faculty of Philosophy. He then pursued medical studies and switched to the University of Würzburg and the University of Vienna , where he mainly focused on obstetrics and ophthalmology .

After he returned to Saxony in 1804, he was posted to various obstetrics institutions abroad at public expense, returned to Wittenberg in 1807 as an associate professor of obstetrics and there became director of the Wittenberg obstetrics institute. In 1811 he received a call to the University of Halle as a full professor and director of the surgical clinic.

Since he had made himself suspicious of sympathizing with the French in 1813, he was dismissed from his office. Thereupon he founded a private surgical clinic in Halle, in which he gave lectures and in which he was very popular. Despite an appointment at the University of Greifswald, he stayed in Halle until the end of his life and occasionally undertook scientific trips. He was a member of the Halle Masonic lodge to the three swords .

Dzondi's final resting place is in the Laurentiuskirchhof in Halle .
