Karl Heitz
Karl Heitz (born January 17, 1900 in Offenburg , † July 8, 1977 ibid) was a German local politician and Lord Mayor of the city of Offenburg. From 1970 to 1975 he was the club president of the Offenburger FV football club .
Life
Education and legal activity
After attending grammar school in Offenburg, Heitz studied law in Bonn, Vienna, Freiburg and Heidelberg. He then worked in the Ministry of the Interior in Karlsruhe from 1936, which was followed by a three-year legal assistantship with subsequent military service from 1940 and duty in the civil administration of Strasbourg . His law firm in Karlsruhe , which was destroyed by the effects of the war in 1945, was re-established in Offenburg in 1946 and he was appointed criminal defense lawyer at the Supreme Military Court in Rastatt .
Election to the mayor and local political activity
In the mayor election on December 19, 1948, the former mayor and member of the SPD, who had been deposed by the National Socialists in 1933, lost to Walther Blumenstock with one vote and Karl Heitz remained through re-election on October 20, 1958 and October 26, 1969 until his retirement on December 31, 1969. October 1975 in office.
His most urgent tasks included rebuilding the city administration, supplying the refugees in the Holderstock camp and eliminating the housing shortage. Furthermore, during his tenure in 1962, the long-distance traffic technology division of the Telefunken company and a subsidiary of Beiersdorf AG settled , the first apartments were built in the newly founded Albersbösch district (from 1952), Uffhofen (from 1963/64), which was due to the construction of the Upper Rhine Hall Expansion of the exhibition grounds and the expansion of the city hospital and Josefskrankenhaus (1954–1956) newly built. In his joint responsibility until 1973, residential quarters with their streets and a large number of historical buildings such as the Europahaus were sacrificed to the goal of creating a car-friendly city.
Heitz wrote local political history with the Offenburg model , which involved the integration of eleven neighboring communities from 1971 to 1975.
Offenburg FV
After internal disputes, Karl Heitz took over the presidency of the Offenburg FV from mid-1970 to 1975 .
Honors
On January 16, 1976, he received an honorary citizen's letter due to his commitment to local politics .
The stadium of the Offenburg FV is named after him.
