Karl Reibel

Karl Anton Ferdinand Reibel (born September 18, 1824 in Gaildorf ; † June 7, 1895 in Heilbronn ) was a Württemberg businessman and politician .

Life

Reibel was a Protestant denomination. His father Carl Reibel (1794–1846) was a senior magistrate in Gaildorf and finally a senior judicial officer in Ellwangen , his mother's name was Ottilie, geb. Pfaff.

Reibel attended the Lyceum in Öhringen and then did a commercial apprenticeship with the textile company Gebr. Zöppritz in Mergelstetten . Then he was a traveling salesman for the Cologne trading house Farina ( Cologne Water ) and as such came to Russia and Central Asia . After that he was employed again by the Zöppritz Brothers in Mergelstetten.

In 1851 he married Johanna Josefine Antonie Stieler (1829–1908), foster daughter of the childless Heilbronn businessman Ferdinand Hauber (1792–1863). In the same year he was accepted as a further partner in its colonial goods trading house of the same name and in 1860 owned a share of 4/16. After Hauber's death, Reibel's wife became a universal heir, and Reibel and his business partner Friedrich Cloß continued the trading company under the name of Ferdinand Hauber. In 1881 Reibel was appointed to the council of commerce by the King of Württemberg .

Reibel was a member of a variety of corporate bodies. From around 1872 to 1882/85 he was a board member of Heilbronner Wohnungsbau AG, from around 1872 to 1887 chairman of the supervisory board of the Heilbronner sugar factory , 1877 to 1881 board member of the administrative board of the Böblingen sugar factory, since 1877 member of the supervisory board of the Schleppschiffahrt auf dem Neckar company and from 1889 to 1893 chairman of the supervisory board, 1883 to 1893 member of the supervisory board of Salzwerk Heilbronn AG . From 1879 to around 1891 he was a board member of the Heilbronn Art Association . Reibel was also a member of a Masonic Lodge .

Political offices

The Greater German Reibel belonged to the Württemberg People's Party . After Adolf von Goppel resigned his mandate in 1865, Reibel was elected in a replacement election for the city of Heilbronn in the Second Chamber of the Württemberg Land estates , of which he was a member until 1870. After the death of MP Karl Wüst , he turned down another candidacy for the state parliament in 1884. From 1868 to 1870 he was also a member of the customs parliament as a member of the constituency of Württemberg 10 ( Heilbronn , Brackenheim , Besigheim , Maulbronn ) .

From December 1863 to the end of 1869 and from 1875 to 1880 Reibel was a member of the Heilbronn municipal council . On February 1, 1876 he became chairman of the Heilbronn Citizens' Committee , and in 1879/80 he was a deputy to the official assembly of the Heilbronn Oberamt .

From Reibel's marriage to Josefine Stieler, the son Ferdinand Reibel (1852–1916), partner in the trading house Ferdinand Hauber, and the daughter Ottilie Franziska Karoline Luise Sofie Reibel (1857–1941), who married the Heilbronn banker Hugo von Rümelin in 1879, emerged .

Honors

The Karl-Reibel-Ring below the Wartberg in Heilbronn was named after Karl Reibel in 2012.
