Karl Wilhelm Effnert (born February 13, 1795 in Langenöls , † November 27, 1881 in Minden ) was a Prussian major general .

Karl Wilhelm was the son of the pastor of Langenöls Abraham Effnert († 1812) and his wife Juliane, née Brückner († 1828)

Military career

Effnert joined the 2nd East Prussian Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on March 20, 1813 as a volunteer hunter . During the Wars of Liberation , he took part in the sieges of Mainz and Laon as well as the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , the Katzbach , Leipzig , Borna, Bunzlau, Löwenberg, Hochkirch, Freyburg , Eisenach and the crossing near Wartenburg . At that time he was on February 16, 1814 Second Lieutenant in the 1st Bergische Infantry Regiment.

Was Effnert on 31 March 1815 in the Regiment Infantry 28 displaced and on July 19, 1819 First Lieutenant promoted. In mid-January 1830 he rose to become captain and company commander . On March 8, 1832, he was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class. On March 28, 1841 he was promoted to major and on May 19, 1841 appointed director of the Division School of the 15th Division . In addition, Effnert became commander of the 2nd Battalion in the 25th Landwehr Regiment on July 28, 1841. In the same capacity, he joined the 39th Infantry Regiment on October 16, 1844, and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on November 19, 1849 . On October 10, 1850 he was appointed commander of the 16th Infantry Regiment and on April 19, 1851 he was promoted to colonel . On the occasion of the festival of the order, Effnert received the Order of the Red Eagle III in January 1854 . Class with a bow. Under awarding of the character as a major general, he took his on March 8, 1855 farewell with board . He died on November 27, 1881 in Minden.

Effnert married Luise Günther (* 1804) on November 8, 1839 in Trier , a daughter of the President of the Criminal Court in Karlsruhe, Peter Günther. The couple had several children:
