Karl von Bagenski

Karl Leopold Heinrich von Bagenski (born June 4, 1794 in Kolberg , † December 14, 1859 in Wetzlar ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and military writer.

origin

His parents were Adalbert von Bagenski (* April 22, 1750; † August 16, 1845) and his wife Sophie Wilhelmine Müller (* September 11, 1757; † November 10, 1839). His father was a captain a. D. as well as port and salt works inspector in Kolberg.

Life

Bagenski 1805 was a cadet in the garrison of Stolp and since July 1, 1810 Musketeer in Kolbergschen 2. Pomeranian Infantry Regiment. 9. On 12 June 1811 he was Portepee ensign , on April 3, 1812 second lieutenant .

In the period from 1813 to 1815 he took part in campaigns. He experienced the sieges of Stettin, Landrecies, Philippeville and Givet and fought in the battles at Groß Beeren , Dennewitz (wounded, Iron Cross II. Class), Leipzig , Ligny (seriously wounded) and in the battle of Hoyerswerda (wounded). On September 2, 1815, he was promoted to Premier Lieutenant. In 1813, during the armistice, he was temporarily employed as an engineer officer while working on the fortification of Berlin.

In May 1829 Bagenski was appointed captain and company commander. In March 1837 he became major and commander of the 1st battalion of the 2nd Landwehr Regiment. On April 10, 1838 he became director of the division school of the 3rd division.

Since March 30, 1844 he was battalion commander in the 2nd Infantry (King) Regiment. On March 27, 1847 he became lieutenant colonel and on May 13, 1848 commander of the 9th Infantry Regiment in Kolberg. On November 19, 1849 he became a colonel . In mid-April 1852 he became commander of the 4th Landwehr Brigade, and in May 1852 commander of the 7th Infantry Brigade. In this position, Bagenski received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves, on September 3, 1856 . On 8 July 1858 he was with the character as a lieutenant general with board for disposition made.

Bagenski married Ulrike Wilhelmine Auguste Luise von Loefen (1802–1841) on November 22, 1822 in Rügenwalde . The marriage produced five sons and one daughter:
